Tank driving at Juniper Leisure - preview video
Tank driving at Juniper Leisure - preview video
On Saturday, me and my son Greg ( with his wife and son, Alana and Ellis )
Went tank driving at Juniper Leisure near Winchester in Hampshire UK.
I bought Greg a voucher to go for his Christmas present.
Obviously! I bought one for myself too!
We had a great time there and I’d highly recommend it.
Sadly I’ve got so much footage it’s taking me a long time to put it all together, so I made this quick preview.
Hope it whets your appetite for the full one…soon!

Father’s Day at Beaulieu Custom and American car show 2024. What a great day I had with my son Greg and his son, Ellis. Loads of fun messing around, and loads of great cars to look at. Life just doesn’t get better! 😁👍 We all went in the Chevy Caprice. There were a few roadside casualties, but the Chevy had no issues. 1992 Chevy Caprice updates. I got the chevy MOT’d the other week, but there were a couple of things I needed to sort out, and as I plan to take it to the Fathers Day car show at Beaulieu tomorrow, Sunday, I’d better get it done. I’m doing this on the Saturday . There are a couple of other things I wanted to do, but there wasn’t enough time. Anyway, here it is, a short update on my Chevy experie...
Will my 1992 Chevy Caprice pass its MOT?
Переглядів 14 тис.28 днів тому
Will my 1992 Chevy Caprice pass its MOT? For the last few weekends, I’ve been going through the things that needed sorting to get the chevy through its MOT. When I bought it, it only had a couple of weeks left on the MOT, and then I went away for a week, so it expired, which wasn’t the original plan. I knew there were a few things wrong with it when I bought it so can’t complain. The worst prob...

15 MPG in my 1992 Chevy Caprice! I’ve been working on my Chevy Caprice over the last few weeks to get a few jobs done so that I can get it MOT’d ,as I’m planning on taking it to the fathers day meeting at Beaulieu, which is a great classic and american car event, and so much better if you participate. Hence my desire to get it sorted. Unfortunately, as is the nature with cars, every job has unv...
Nostalgia Nationals, Santa Pod Raceway, 4th May 2024

The weather’s been pretty bad lately, even for England! Seems to rain practically every day. However, this last Saturday at the Nostalgia Nationals, Santa Pod Raceway, 4th May 2024, the sun shone, and the rain stayed away. It was the best day of the weekend by far. I spent a good part of it shooting the breeze and putting the world to rights with my good friend Nigel Taylor. Had a great time. I...
A rant about lane hogs
Переглядів 3,4 тис.2 місяці тому
Ok, this is the third video in my ‘Rant’ theme series. This time it’s the turn of the lane hogs. Yes, you’ve all seen them, but I know none of you are one. Are you? There’s certainly no shortageof them. Seriously, whats happened to driving standards? Ive had some messages recently regarding sound quality, and yes I agree, it could be improved. I’d like to point out though, that since starting t...
Will my new 1992 Chevy Caprice I’ve just bought, drive me 170 miles home?
Переглядів 9 тис.2 місяці тому
I’ve just bought a 1992 Chevrolet Caprice Classic, from a Facebook marketplace advert. It’s in Clacton on Sea, which is 170 miles away from my house. It’s only got about two weeks mot on it and has a few issues that the seller told me about. I hope there aren’t any others! I’ve only seen it briefly a week ago. The seller hasn’t used it much, so I’ve no idea how this is going to work out! Wish m...
Greased Lightning - Showroom Shine.I use it on my Mondeo
Переглядів 7 тис.3 місяці тому
Hello everyone. I’ve just sold my Mondeo which I’ve had since 2021. It’s getting picked up today, so an ideal time to clean it and share my liking of waterless cleaning products. In my case, I prefer and indeed recommend, showroom shine, made by greased lightning. I have found a cheaper alternative and here in this video, I’ll show you why I don’t rate it at all. By the way….I’m not being paid ...
The roads are killing my car!
Переглядів 8 тис.3 місяці тому
In this, my second, video of me ranting about things that piss me off driving here in the UK, I am looking at the absolutely disgraceful roads that are in my local area. Why? Well, basically, it’s getting beyond a joke. I’ve just had to have one of my front coil springs replaced because it was fractured. This was an eibach spring too. What’s worse is the fact that just over a year ago, I had a ...
I’m having a rant about car lights!
Переглядів 8 тис.4 місяці тому
I’ve decided to share my feelings about the state of driving here in the UK. So here’s the first rant… LIGHTS! Maybe more people than you think, don’t use their lights when they really should, and in many cases, are required to do by law. Why don’t they? A good question. Some of it is partly the responsibility of car manufacturers and their ‘running lights’. Why not put rear lights on as well a...
Putting my bracket racing Mustang back on the road - part 1
Переглядів 7 тис.4 місяці тому
This is my 1994 Ford Mustang 3.8 V6. I bought this years ago, and used to run it regularly at the now defunct, Shakespeare County Raceway drag track. You might think what not a V8? Well, to be honest, I got the car cheap and mocked it up as a Indy pace car. At the time, I enjoyed driving it around and racing it in the bracket class, where all cars are basically equal. I used to drive it there, ...
Prices of car trim has gone crazy
Переглядів 6 тис.4 місяці тому
Since certain things have been going on in the world, the prices of everything, including car parts , have gone through the roof! I had a new windscreen fitted on my Mondeo recently. The rubber trim pieces that go on each side were rotten basically. I thought they would come with the screen, but they didn’t. I looked about on line to get some new ones. What a shock! £40 each! EACH! ( to be tota...

Great video Sir. I love my German Merc, just bought one with warning lights staying on. Atleast I know how to remove the instrument stuff. Learning. Thanks again. Vetri South African Indian 🙏🇿🇦🇿🇦🙏

Such a cool experience 😎
It was indeed. Wait until you see the full video!
Great video, captions disappear way too fast for me to read though
Really sorry. Maybe halt the video when they come up. I’ll bear it in mind in the future though. Thanks for the message.
Such varied years and colours. Brilliant. Great video sir
Thank you very much. I hope you’ve subscribed
I’m glad you showed so many of the cars running. I just love the V8 sound. Not an electric car in sight!
To me, the sound is very important so I always try to capture as much as possible
I love all those American cars. Awesome!
I agree!
Great show! Thanks for sharing it with everyone.
My pleasure. Glad you liked it.
I feel sorry for the people having trouble with their cars. At least you didn’t.
Me too, and yes, thankfully we didn’t
So no problems with the Chevy? That’s good news. It is looking good!
No! Absolutely zero problems, even being stuck in the queue for half an hour.
It looks like it was pretty busy there. Good weather too. Unusually
The weather threatened to rain, but never arrived! Loads of cars indeed
So many beautiful cars!
There were. Pretty much all tastes catered for
Love the video, you look like you had a great time.
We really really did. I love cars but this was a great day with my son and grandson. Epic day out
I didn’t realise that Beaulieu had car shows.
They have quite a few different event’s throughout the year. Check them out on their web page for details. Hope you liked my video.

Are them rear bearings pressed in need do my oil seal and wanting do bearings why I'm at it
The outer bearings aren’t .Not sure about the inner ones as didn’t go that far with mine.
@@shoestringmotoring the inner ain't aswell I replaced them yesterday why I did my halfshaft seal
@@leefisher6226 excellent! That’s good to know
I believe it i miss my 93
I had a 96 350 lt it got 16 city and 21 highway all day long small v8 tuned correctly can get 26 maybe more in the right light body
In the UK the gallon is not the same as in the USA, but I agree with you. Sadly, the Caprice is 4000lbs which doesn’t help much 😁
I appreciate seeing behind the scenes.. going to Santa Pod is on my bucket list. My local track is Maryland Intenational Raceway.
My pleasure. Glad you liked it. Do you have a lot of racing in Maryland? I’ve only been to beech bend in Kentucky and Gainesville and Orlando speed world in Florida
@shoestringmotoring Maryland International Raceway is an IHRA track. They have quite a few races there. The closest NHRA track is a couple of hours away in Virginia. Maple Grove (NHRA) is also close enough for a day trip, but that is in New Jersey. There are at least 6 dragstrips near that are close enough for a day trip.
I’m jealous 😁
Love the wiper ‘fix’. Do you reckon you’ll fix it properly? Must be possible surely?
The priority was to get the car on the road, but hopefully I’ll sort them out in the future.
Cool looking car mate. I love the interior especially.
Glad you like it 😊
Makes a difference to all the crown vics around.
I suppose it does. Never thought about it.
Is it very fast? Must be pretty good being a v8 surely?
Unfortunately not. It only has a rated 170hp which is pretty dismal. Sounds good though!
Good luck with the car. Hope it stays on the road. Well done so far.
Much appreciated. Thank you.
I can’t remember seeing one of those Chevy models before except in photos. Must be pretty rare.
Yes, and that’s true even in the States according to my friend in California
At least it’s not electric! lol!
The welding on that exhaust bracket was awesome 🤣
The best 😂
Don’t expect anyone buys one of those thinking about fuel economy do they.
They certainly must be crazy if they do!
Can’t you get a new wiper controller?
I think so, but not sure. Also to fit it you have to take the top part of the steering column out. I’m ok with it at the moment, so I’ll maybe do it later.
I have been driving a BMW 7 series and it gets about the same. Sooner have the Chevy!
That would be a wise choice if you ask me 😁
I just got a D1 Pro. I like it. One thing: I’m diagnosing a P0455 Evap Leak and it does an evap system check, but I can’t find a way to individually control the purge valve or canister vent valve so I can do a smoke test. The capability might be hidden there, but I haven’t found it yet. One good thing: it DOES have a transmission temp PID for draining/filling transmission fluid in Lexus/Toyota “lifetime fluid” transmissions. That was a must-have capability for me.
I like it too. Can’t help you with your smoke test though. It has been a really useful tool for me in what I’ve needed.
I agree with your sentiments. Get it working , not necessarily perfect.
👍
Is it an overdrive trans in those or the th350?
It’s a four speed but basically a th350 with overdrive gear.
Looks good!
Thanks very much! Much appreciated
I used to have an older impala, and I never got more than 17 or so. Mostly worse.
I had a 1963 Ford Galaxie big block V8 and that got about 13-15. Worse sometimes! Worth it though. Wish I still had it!
I am planning on buying mine becaue its my dream to have a two seater cabrio and this is budget car. But these problems made me question....
Other than the issues mentioned above how is the car? the driving comfort etc?
The car drove very well but it’s not enough. Buying one of these is a huge gamble. I’d recommend an mx5 or Mercedes SLK rather than a tigra, or Peugeot 206cc. I cannot stress enough how bad these cars can be. All the problems are VERY common. The SLK can be bought for a similar price and doesn’t have these issues. At the end of the day, it’s your choice, but for me, the chances of you getting one of the good ones, is not at all high. If you do decide to get one, have it professionally checked out. Good luck.
@@shoestringmotoring there is one now its 1.8 cc engine version. No leakeage from the ceiling what so ever. no previous accident and ceiling working just fine... but still. The mercedes slk versions are high cc with a lot of text where i live....
I mean the car I told you I am planning to buy at the end of this month.
@@kereminion6049 that’s what I’m talking about..the TIGRA
I think most modern fuel injected yank tanks get about the mid 20’s mpg.
That’s a fair comment and you’re pretty much right. Eli definitely changed the mileage of the V8.
And they run 300 thousand miles and more with proper maintenance try that in a British bonnet😂😂😂❤😊
@@frankorobinson1540 very true 👍
I would have guessed between 10 and 15 myself.
If it was a Chevy from sixties or seventies, you’d be right. The difference is EFI and computer controls.
I had a land rover that was much much worse than that.
Me too. I,used to,have a regular 2.5 series 3 and it was a great day if it got more than 15mpg!
25! That’s pretty good. What’s it like in town though?
A lot less. Seriously though, I didn’t buy it for fuel economy. I suppose it gets roughly 20 which isn’t at all bad for a two ton monster.
Almost good enough to use every day!
Ha ha…nice one!
I change a headlight bulb without dismantling half the car...:)
